Trade NAFTA Visa
TN status is temporary in nature, restricted to a specific employer and must be annually renewed. Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) a citizen of a NAFTA country, such as Canada, may work in a professional occupation in another NAFTA country provided that the:
The profession is on the NAFTA list
He or she possesses the specific criteria for that profession
Prospective position requires someone in that professional capacity
He or she is going to work for a U.S. employer
The spouse and unmarried, minor children of the Canadian RN are entitled to the derivative status, but they are unable to accept employment in the United States since they are considered non-immigrants under this classification.
Green Card status
Having a Green Card lets Canadian registered nurses live and work in the United States for 10-year period. As permanent residents, Canadian registered nurses can eventually qualify for U.S. citizenship. If their spouses become permanent residents through your residency, they also can work in the United States.
You must have a nursing diploma or BSN and an RN license in the United States or in Canada.
You must have one year of experience and have completed at least two assignments with NursesRx.
You must be in good standing, including compliant with travel documentation.
You must have passed the CGFNS exam or NCLEX, or hold a full and unrestricted license to practice nursing in the state of intended employment.
You must possess a valid VisaScreen certificate.
You must be committed to working with NursesRx while your Green Card is in process.
The entire process is likely to take 24 months to 36 months. The processing time varies based upon the area of the United States where you will work and the region where you file your petition.
One of the great benefits of NursesRx's Green Card program is that your spouse and dependent children under age 21 may qualify to immigrate with you to the United States.
Once you agree to work with NursesRx and you are on assignment, we will pay the attorneys' fees and related cost for the filing of an Employment-based Immigrant Petition (Form I-140), an Application to Adjust Status (Form I-485), and one application for employment authorization. You will be responsible for the payment of Green Card applications for your spouse and any minor children, as well as any extraordinary expenses should there be any complications with your case that require additional attorney fees.
Contact NursesRx as soon as possible and ask for the immigration coordinator to send you the information packet and program questionnaire.
Our company attorneys will review your questionnaire to determine if you have the necessary qualifications for participation in the Green Card program.
Based on the information on the questionnaire and documents, our attorneys will advise you if you are accepted into the program.
