    • Prospective RNs must enroll in a nursing program that has been approved by the Florida Board of Nursing or another acceptable organization, such as the ACEN or CCNE.
    • Out-of-state applicants already licensed in the U.S. may apply via endorsement by submitting license verification from their current state in which he/she are licensed.
    • A permanent Florida nursing license typically takes 4-5 weeks for completion. The state of Florida does not provide temporary licenses.
    • Documents needed to obtain state of Florida nursing license include, verification of original and active license, background check, and three letters of recommendation.

    If you are an out-of-state RN applying for a Florida nursing license via endorsement, you can go to Nursys.com. Here you can navigate to the Nursys Licensure Verification tab, which is an online service where you can request a secure electronic verification of licensure.

    Florida Nursing License Renewal

    Those who have a Florida nursing license are required to renew their license every two years to be able to practice legally. Below are some Florida nursing license renewal requirements to remember:

    • Must complete CE requirements as well as the renewal application.
    • A fee of $80 is required for renewal; $135 for late renewal.
    • Renew your license by setting up an account in the MQA Online Services Portal on the Florida Board of Nursing website.
