Medical Surgical Nurse - Travel - (MS RN)
Bariatric General (BGSU) is a 24-bed flex unit – taking majority Intermediate Level Patients (the acuity level is comparable to an ICU unit at smaller hospitals
Primary Population: The population consists of multiple types of general surgery patients and includes the following: Thoracotomies (lung surgeries), Amputations, and Weight loss surgery, a minimal number of various vascular surgeries, an array of abdominal surgeries, complicated appendix or gallbladder surgeries.
BGSU receives overflow of populations such as trauma and medical patients at times. Nursing staff analyze cardiac rhythms on their patients; we are not monitored by monitor techs you must be able to read strips.
Skills that will be utilized are wound vac. dressing changes, extensive wound management, wound drains, epidurals, arterial lines, central lines, tracheotomy patients, chest tubes, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, various intravenous drips ie. Cardiac, insulin, heparin, and cardiac monitoring.
